EnOcean Battery-less Sensors to Breed Energy from Thin Air

Friday, September 22nd, 2006

Extending their series of battery-less / wireless sensors and switches that can pull out energy from the environment and broadcast information through radio signals to a processor, once again German EnOcean has emerged with a thermal-differential sensor, a battery-less sensors that produce energy from atmosphere and temperature discrepancies.

Capable of producing 50-milliwatts, owing to 3-degrees Celsius higher or lower surface temperature than the direct surroundings that is enough to transmit a twisted RF signal as much as 300 m in an open depot or 30 m through walls. To create micro-climates around the home, simply you got to do is connect the sensors with a thermostat and unshackle your home from Cat 5 or WiFi all around.
