Postdoc Job Offer

Thursday, May 22nd, 2008

A new joint project at SICS and the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) is starting in June called reSENSE: ultra-reliable high-throughput wireless sensor networks. The project intends to make sensor networks both more reliable and have higher throughput than today. The Contiki team has already started pushing the limits of sensor network throughput. The Royal Institute of Technology is now looking for highly skilled post-doc researchers for the project. More information here.

WINSOC Project Advances: The Promise Of Wireless Sensor Networks

Thursday, May 22nd, 2008

WINSOC (Wireless Sensor Networks with Self-Organization Capabilities for Critical and Emergency Applications), a project funded by the FP6 Information Society Technologies programme of the European Union is already delivering results. WINSOC started in September 2006 and will run till the end of February 2009. The project goal is to improve the performance of sensor networks by using a biologically inspired design –inscribed in the frame of the so called bioinspired science that basically consists of looking at nature to solve problems, that is, using living organisms as a model to study and conceptualize problems in a variety of fields as engineering and design, materials or sociology for example.

The Research Corner

Thursday, May 22nd, 2008

Dear readers,

In line with the scope of our blog, we announce the creation of a novel “research corner” page (see also the side bar) that aims to covers popular simulators, operating systems, research platforms, and popular research testbeds currently adopted for WSNs. The objective is to inform and provide guidances to new researchers that wish to obtain some initial advices in choosing the appropriate WSN tools for their work. The page may be periodically updated with new inputs and research novelties so we would welcome additions, comments and advices from the readers to help making this page more comprehensive.
